ROLE: Logo and book design   |   CLIENT: DSTLRY
Book design and flexible logo for James Tynion IV and Christian Ward's, SPECTREGRAPH
We wanted the logo design to reflect an element at the heart of the horror story, which focuses on a house with a secret hidden at its centre. I took inspiration from the structural design of blue prints, and an art nouveau font that felt sophisticated yet formal in its design.

LOGO DEVELOPMENT
Christian was keen on a vertical logo, which took me a while to come round to, but I explored a number of different options with extremely different styles and I ended up loving the vertical option we went for. We really liked the blue-print style so decided to develop that route further, which ended up informing the design of the interior pages too.
FINAL LOGO
The second stage of development allowed me to really lean into the blue-print style, and I built a structured logo that could rotate and work both vertically and horizontally, to be more flexible around the artwork and placement across other media. I also liked how I was able to incorporate an element of the secret hidden at the heart of the house with the radial lines and the circular focus on the 'G'.
INTERIOR PAGE DESIGN
To continue the theme of the blue-prints I designed a simplified building schematic that could be used as a framing device, along with a painted background texture that could be used throughout the interiors, on the credits page and the Next Issue spread.
